Oops, She Did It Again

Twin 1, for the second time, landed in my newsfeed.

With no plans or time to post today, I was nevertheless moved to do so when I saw a face in my newsfeed that looked an awful lot like Twin 1.

Fact of the matter, it was she.

One’s heart stops a little when one sees a family member’s face in the news, as one doesn’t know if it’s something good or something bad.

It was something awight.

Evidently Ye — the musician formerly known as Kanye West had ordered a ton of shirts with the triggering logo "#WLM (White Lives Matter)".

Not to say White lives don’t matter. All lives and All forms of life matter, it’s just that the phrase #WLM has been coined by the white supremacists and has now been categorized as a hate slogan.

Ye appears to be in crisis since losing his Kardashian wife to comic Pete Davidson. Seemingly now desperate for attention, I guess he figured selling these shirts in his clothing line would get him the attention he so craves.

THEN came those recent antisemitic remarks on social media, which prompted the manufacturer to dump the shirts.

The manufacturer probably thought dumping the shirts on Skid Row to be a humanitarian act, unaware the shirts are triggering and can cause harm to be done to the wearer.

So, anyway, trying to get the shirts off Skid Row is why Twin 1 ended up in my newsfeed.

Before I sign off …. Mildred’s challenge yesterday was "A song from your pre-teen years”.

I was a boring, painfully shy, unhappy child during my pre-teens (teens as well). My escape was the fantasy of losing myself in the lives of others. The person that seemed to be living the life I most wanted mine to be at the time was that of Annette Funicello as a Mouseketeer. So, of course, the Mickey Mouse Club theme was my pre-teen song.

Day 13: A song you like from the 70s.

I loved the sound of Karen Carpenter’s voice. Now that I know she was struggling, as I was, her voice probably spoke to me as that of a kindred suffering spirit.

That’s it for today, I’ve lots to do and have to get cracking, so Raines out.

  1. I wish your daughter great success in getting those shirts off the streets. Good for her to attempt to stop this nonsense. As for that other character, shame on him. He, like so many others, are not helping society.

    1. Once the shirts are collected, they should cut them up and use for toilet paper.

  2. Kanye West needs to go back on his bipolar medication and get his life in order. Kudos to Twin #1 for working to undo the damage that will ensue from the manufacturer's dump of those white supremacist tees on skid row. How stupid can people get? It's just staggering.

  3. I wonder if Ye looked up the dictionary definitions of his new name before changing it.

    1. You stoked my curiosity, so I looked it up ... "As well as being a shortened version of Kanye, the new moniker also has religious significance for the star. "I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it's I'm you, I'm us, it's us," he said in a 2018 interview with radio host Big Boy".

  4. So admiring of Twin 1. I crushed on Annette Funicello when I was a kid. She was popular, talented, calm, seemingly confident and secure. And she could sing. Karen Carpenter, what a voice, and what the world can do to us.

  5. I have never found him either a genius as he is often referred, or a great artist. I see a man with a boat load of money who is mentally ill. Being part of Maga is enough to see that. Those people who just as soon lynch him than be his friend but if he is drinking their kool - aid he will be okay. But dare he cross that line, he is first to go, the dumb ass. He makes me ill and I hope the cancel culture continues to cancel him. I feel badly for his kids but they will grow into their own hot messes unless their mother gets them mental help first. Sorry but this man makes me as sick as trump makes me sick. Both equally vile, in some ways, the same, in some vile but different issues. Either way, horrific humans who are terribly ill.

  6. I saw that article somewhere on-line and I said “Shirley’s daughter!” Man, good for her.
I tried to jump on the Kanye wagon early on, but there simply wasn’t anything “there” in his lyrics. Ok, Golddigger was alright, but the rest….

    1. I guess he's an acquired taste. That Kim K seemed to like him .... for a while.

  7. Well, Kanye has never been tightly wrapped and craves attention... that's why he Married a Kardastophe. Handing out those Shirts on Skid Row by some 'charitable motive' seems suspect to me too by the way... that whole 'movement' likes to incite violence in any form they can. I am glad the shirts and their slogan were dumped, but it should have been in a landfill or set them on fire. Glad your Daughter is doing what she can to replace them with proper clothing for the Skid Row Residents who may be oblivious to what they've been used as a Billboard for Racist Extremists.

    1. You're probably right about the manufacturer's motives. He had to know what he was getting himself into when he produced the shirts
