Happy 4th

Workout in the AM, followed by carrot dog for lunch.

Third time was the charm. I ditched the GF flour the recipe called for, used brown rice flour and voila, hot dog buns.

(Let's see just how hip my readers are. Which one of you can identify what that Reface dance represents ... where did it come from?)

  1. I see "Grey Gardens" in the entryway being performed by 'Little Edie'
(Drew Barrymore). I love the original documentary by the Mayseles
brothers. About 5 years ago I became obsessed with Grey Gardens
and read everything I could get my hands on. I also read the book
by 'the Marble Fawn', the young guy who worked for the Beales.
    That was a fascinating read.

    1. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. It is indeed Little Edie's patriotic dance in the documentary "Grey Gardens". I never watched the Drew Barrymore version but, like you, enjoyed the original. I'll have to check out "The Marble Fawn".

    2. By all means check out The Marble Fawn of Grey Gardens.
This guy really has a story to tell. He had quite the life at
Grey Gardens as well as after. Let me know what you think
      after you read it, Shirley.

    3. I'd already looked it up and got hooked. When I finish this Randy Rainbow book, Fawn is next on my reading list.

  2. That hot dog bun looks good! But I have no idea which movie/show that patriotic little dance comes from!

    1. The bun turned out better than store bought. As Paranormal John commented, the dance is from the 1975 documentary “Grey Gardens” about socialite Little Edie, relative of Jackie Onassis and Less Bouvier Radziwill, who fell on hard times, moved into a rundown house with her mom. It’s a fascinating documentary about how strangely the two women lived.

    2. Yes, I've seen it! And I still didn't recognize the dance! Guess it just didn't stick in my memory.

  3. I think you need to sign up for an intestine transplant and get rid of your gut problems once and for all.

    1. I wish. Too many years of listening to doctors as they misdiagnosed a simple food allergy into other diagnoses, prescribed medication that hurt, not helped. I'm stuck with the results now.

  5. The Drew Barrymore version was well done, but oh the original stage production and before that the documentary. Truth is stranger than fiction.

    1. Having seen the documentary a couple times in the past, I'll pass on seeing the Barrymore version.

  6. You seem to have embraced your Dietary restrictions with creativity and acceptance, that Carrot Dog don't look half bad. My Granddaughter Princess T has gut issues and she avoids so many foods due to the discomfort they cause her.
