Okay Monday, Let’s Do This!

I’m finding that, just as Monday was my least favorite day of the week when I was in the workforce (for obvious reasons), now that I’m retired, Monday is STILL my least favorite day of the week.

Why?

Because Monday brings with it the grind of starting all over — things I must do, places I must go; while weekends, when I do get time to myself, are so carefree/unscripted.

I did have Sunday to myself — took a nice long bubble bath, caught up with a few recorded television programs, gave myself a fresh manicure/pedicure.

Then I checked out an app that Mistress Maddie did a post on a while back — Reface, where one can swap their face with faces on magazine covers, in movie scenes, shows, gifs, etc.

After investigating the app, to make sure it was safe, I downloaded and chose to insert myself into the highly popular Netflix series The Squid Game.

Based on the children’s game Red Light/Green Light — which game I remember rushing home from elementary school in time to catch Engineer Bill on television, calling out “Red Light/Green Light” as I tried to keep up while drinking milk or water, the Squid Game takes that harmless game to another level.

Hundreds of contestants who have a financially challenging past, all looking to test their skills and their strength in the hopes of winning a large sum of money, enter a contest — at the helm of which is a terrifying doll that recites the name of the game over and over.

Standing next to a tree, the doll turns its back, whereupon the players can move towards the doll (green light). HOWEVER, when the doll spins around to face the players, the contestants must freeze immediately (red light), or risk getting fatally shot.

I played around with the app and this what I came up with ….

Me as the horrifying doll

Me as a player who (supposedly) did not fare well

Later, seeing a friend had posted that, after viewing Squid Game, she'd never play red light/green light ever again, I'd commented with my doll photo "Don't worry. I'll let you cheat".

That garnered a lot of LOL's, questions as to how I did this, and a request to make myself a player described as “The Crazy Girl”.

There’s not a lot of Squid Game on Reface, but there was that.

So, that's how Sunday ended ... on a high note.

Waking up this morning, I find this .....

Two other friends had joined in on the fun.

So at least this Monday started off with a ROFLMAO!!!

I can't help but wonder how Engineer Bill would react to Squid Game, seeing how his wholesome red light/green light has been turned into terror and horror; but thanks Mistress, for turning me onto this fun app.

  1. Love your candy corn everything! But, uh, the head switching is just more spooky than I can process. You seem to be a bisque doll. Except for that old game of Frogger, where I try not to get splatted crossing roads and rivers, I can't catch on to the thrill of terror anything. Horror movies don't get my money either. 1. So that's twice this morning I've ROFLMAO, because you found the head switch spooky, and it's only 8:55 am. LOL. A bisque doll is exactly what the doll in the game looks like, that she's made of porcelain. I play Frogger every time I walk the neighborhood or decide to walk to the pain cave because cars are so intent on turning corners, they fail to notice there's a human being crossing in the walkway.

    1. Actually, I hate candy corn. It has a terrible taste. But I think it pretty for purposes of decorating at Halloween. Must run in the family, because Twin 2, who works part time at an elementary school, tells me she made candy corn hats for her students.

  3. I love your nails but feel the same way about the product itself.
    You did a great job.
I don't understand the game but you find very good ways to entertain yourself. You are very self sufficient.

    1. Well, so far, it appears I'm the only one still alive that remembers red light/green light with Engineer Bill, which would make the squid game easier to understand.

  4. *Interesting that you said this about Mondays being you've been retired now for a bit. This is all new to me and I told my husband that I am not sure I am cut out for this retirement stuff but why are Mondays still awful to me? I think you hit the nail on the head. And speaking of nails - you did that to yourself? Candy corn nails? Good for you!

    1. Being retired is great. You won't regret it. It's just that we've been so traumatized by Mondays that it's hard now not to dread them. When I want a special mani/pedi, I have to do it myself as I've not yet found a salon that will do candy corn, or candy cane, or skittle nails for me. Good luck with the paint :-)

    2. OOPS, please delete the comment I just said asking about Skittles! I emigrated here when I was already grown up and don't know much about candy! Multi colored nails would be fun but I like your candy corn ones.

    3. No worries. I've done skittle nails quite a few times, my favorite because they're easy and still popular now. Guess you didn't know that's what they're called :-)

  5. I see that the horrifying doll is wearing candy-corn colors.

  6. Your face on that doll is a hoot. Love your nails. You are pretty handy with the paint. I don't think it could do that. Never was that good at painting my left hand.

    1. Doing it myself is a challenge, but feeds my creative side.

  7. I am amazed that you can manage to get three striped colors on your smaller toe nails!
