It’s the First of Halloween!!!

My favorite time of the year!

Let the decorating begin!

Tomorrow, or the next day, I'll get around to the patio lights and window decorations.

Yesterday was the highly anticipated — by management, Regulatory Agency Inspection.

Management pimped the heck outta the property.

Landscapers were here every single day this week — pruning, clipping, clearing. The Maintenance Guys power washed this, that, the other. That homeless bedding setup was found and removed — I’m guessing by either the landscapers or maintenance guys.

So, after all that pimping for what I’d misread as today/Friday’s inspection, when it was actually yesterday/Thursday, the Santa Ana Winds came though that very morning, sending leaves, trash, debris, all over the place.

My unit has never been chosen for one of those random inspections, but I was hoping it would be this time so the inspectors could see my bedroom blinds, which I’ve requested to be replaced three times, are in need of replacement; and so I can rat management out on a few other issues.

Actually, I take that back about never being chosen because I just recalled that, when I first moved in, there was an inspection. I think it was within my first three months here. Of course, having just moved in, the place was looking fresh. Plus, I'd organized things nicely.

The inspector was in the back room alone, while the then manager and I were chatting in the front room and, when she came back out to the front room, she said, “You’re very neat. We have a sister community in Northern California you might be interested in”.

It’s a good thing that, when I became unhappy when Nurse Ratched took over management of the place, and things got so bad that I was on the verge of moving, I didn’t put Northern California on my list of places to check out because, in 2017, there was a huge fire and that senior complex was destroyed. No loss of seniors’ lives, but displacement.

Management here was asking for donations of sleepwear, underwear, socks, hygiene/toiletry kits, bedding, dog/cat food, charging cables/power strips, etc., also saying that, "some of our team members live in mandatory evacuation areas, some of which have not been able to report to work due to road closures".

As for Nurse Ratched, fortunately her evil deeds caught up with her and she was escorted off the property by the police before I found a place and moved.

At any rate, I didn’t see management walking anyone around who looked like a Regulatory Agency Inspector yesterday. Actually, didn’t see management or maintenance at all.

Maybe it was a virtual inspection, with management just showing them photos.

The medal for that Virtual 5K (my 70th 5K) arrived in the mail yesterday, along with yet another tee I’ll never wear, and probably will never find the time to turn into a quilt. I have, however, stored the tees in a plastic container just in case I do find the time.

There was no Bib in the packet.

The medal is cool but would rather a Bib, than the tee.

    1. Thanks! That was a lucky find. I ran across the candy corn wreath two/three years ago at a craft store when I wasn't even looking for anything. The next year, I lucked on the matching doormat.

    1. Thanks. I get my headers from iStock. They don't always have what I want. Luckily, this time they did.

  3. I love the doormat too! Your wreath looks good and goes well with the door. Looking forward to those nails!
Husband got his Covid booster AND a flu shot yesterday, I had thought they might not give both together but apparently it is O.K. even a week before turning 81.

    1. Bet you're relieved that husband got his shots. Did you get your flu and booster? I'll probably not candy corn my nails until towards end of month, I'm leaning towards doing skittle nails using halloween colors in the interim.

    2. I had Moderna and they are not suggesting a booster yet, in fact the Pharmacist said we Moderna folk may not even need one. I will get the Flu shot soon, main concern was John.

    1. Thanks! I wonder why, for so many of us, Halloween is a favorite. I'm really getting into it this time around, but somewhat restrained, because the more I put out on display, the more I have to put away when Halloween is over.

  7. Love your Halloween Blog Banner and your Decorations. Your Candy Corn exterior matches your Door perfectly. I'll be having Princess T help me Decorate the Exterior this Week since she's off School for Fall Break and we'll be attending the Arizona State Fair with Irresistible Isaac in tow Tomorrow...
