Winter Storm

Woke up this morning to a Winter Storm Warning. Problem with that is …… it’s Spring.

A rainy day on a Monday? Where’s the justice in that.

Heading to the Pain Cave, carrying an umbrella and wearing rain boots, I managed to make it there and back before it got too bad out there.

Trainer has a new client that comes in as I’m leaving. I don’t know how she found him — probably someone referred him, but she just moved into a nice area a few cities over and moved there from Beverly Hills.

That’s a HUGE change — from the land of Gucci, Prada, Versace, Chanel to a somewhat nice area and then to here to train.

She’s feeling the change because she’s never seen a homeless person before.

Seriously.

I believe it, because you can bet there are no homeless allowed in Beverly Hills.

They frighten her. She’s so nervous, so afraid of being attacked that Trainer had me reassure her the homeless have never approached, harassed or been a danger to me — a female client. I said that it’s smart to nevertheless stay alert to your surroundings when entering/exiting the car and, in the last analysis, not to worry because we have Trainer looking out for us.

Trainer is such a nice guy that once, seeing a homeless female out in the rain, he gave her a jacket from his truck, bought her food. He used to save cans for another homeless dude that frequented the area but is no longer around.

When he comes across those that don’t act right, he talks to them calmly, tells them he’d appreciate they’d not hang around his business. They seem to appreciate being talked to like the human they are underneath the down and destitute appearance they present. They also see Trainer’s gangster looking tattoos, can see from the equipment that Trainer is a trained fighter, and they comply.

The homeless respect him and, rather than harass Trainer’s clients, the homeless guys look out for his business. Like the time I blogged about how they warned him when a homeless lady began setting a fire, to warm herself, too close to his business.

At any rate, I don’t think Ms. Beverly Hills can overcome her fear.

Will be interesting to see how long before she stops coming.

Still no sign of my buddy Apache, but The Baker said he texted her last week, so I guess he’s okay.

Other news is the woman described in the blog as "The Little Helpful Lady" — because she was so helpful when we had activities … helping to set up, clean up, making birthday cakes finally moved out on Sunday.

I say finally because she didn’t want to go, dragged her heels and delayed as long as she could.

Living here almost from when the building first went up, some 20 years or so ago, Apache told me two/three months ago, when he was here helping her pack, that she was being forced by relatives to move in with them and she didn’t want to go.

Supposedly moving in with her son and his family, for her own best interest, because she’d fallen three times in her unit, injured herself.

You’d think that to be a good thing for her — to move in with relatives, but her issue was about losing her independence, "I’ll have to do what they want me to do".

I’ve seen it happen a few times that when one of our seniors loses their independence, move in with relatives and don't want to, they go down quickly — depressed, demoralized, don’t last long.

I had suggested he tell her to get a caregiver.

"That’s the thing" said he. "Her son IS her caregiver. He gets paid by the State to take care of her".

Ah Ha, the plot thickens, thought I. It’s all about the money the son has been collecting for caregiving when, actually, he wasn’t caregiving at all — she was living alone, caring for herself, letting the son receive extra income on a pretext of being her caregiver.

The accidents must have been bringing attention to the fraud, and he didn’t want to lose that source of income, so he pushed her to move in.

Hope it works out for her. That she doesn’t regret getting herself a real caregiver, continue to live where she was happy.

The slap seen around the world made it to Court TV this afternoon.

I just watched a discussion between the commentator and a lawyer. It was said Will Smith can be charged whether Chris Rock presses charges or not because it’s on video and so many saw it.

I saw it.

I’d be glad to sign on as a complaining party, a witness. Citizen's arrest maybe.

There was also a discussion as to the Academy’s responsibility. That security should have immediately escorted WS out of the venue.

I agree.

After being escorted out, they could have mailed his Oscar to him.

But, in all fairness, Production was probably in shock, as were we all.

It was a situation no one had ever seen before or could have anticipated.

I don’t expect anything like that to ever happen again but, if it does, Production will be ready with a plan.

  1. Someone should have slapped the shit out of Chris Rock long ago. I find him very loud and annoying. But should it have been done on live tv? Nope. I find them both with no couth or class. Jada will now probably get out her Chris Rock voodoo doll.

A rather boring and dated event again. Award shows seem to be getting passe.

And spring??? Same here. The high today dropped into the low 20's!!!

    1. I don't usually watch the Oscars, because of the long speeches. I've not seen any of the movies, don't want to, none looked interesting. I was there to see Wanda and her co-hosts because I knew they'd have some funny bits. Plus, I love me some Chris Rock. Watch anything he's in.

    2. OMG Mads you're funny... I could always loan Jada one of mine if she can't find hers. The Man took a different take on it, he said if someone on National TV said anything disparaging about me and he just stood there not doing anything, it's unmanly to allow someone to disrespect your Beloved, so he would have knocked Chris Rock out Cold... well, my Man, what can I say... we could always blame it on his Wartime PTSD. *bwahahahaha* I didn't see the Oscars nor the incident so will have to google it now. We're in the 40's this Morning and it was over 100 just 48 Hours ago, WTF?! No wonder we're all Sick.

  2. Yes, I thought Oscar security was surprisingly lax too. Maybe if it had been some "nobody" rushing the stage and not a Hollywood star, things would have been different.

    1. Security will be ready for anything next year. I see WS is finally issuing an apology to Chris. It's bull crap. Plus, he's making excuses. Something about having an abusive father. He needs to STFU.

  3. We thought the Oscar telecast was totally without class, what we watched of it. The Smith/Rock episode seemed to epitome it for us. It's been going downhill for years. At least that's what we extreme seniors think.

    1. I enjoyed it, up until the incident, at which point I checked out and began watching a different show. Which, I'm glad, because it would have maddened me to see WS win best actor and the audience giving him a standing ovation after what he'd just done. I'd have boo'd him. The three female hosts didn't disappoint. They were hilarious.

  4. I didn’t see the Oscars and can only see it after the fact in clips. I didn’t find Chris Rock’s bald joke funny, but didn’t find Will Smith’s time-delayed reaction at all appropriate. But I adore Wanda Sykes. I hope The Little Helpful Lady is loved and truly cared for and it becomes a good move for her. It sounds sketchy.

    1. It was an innocuous joke and not at all offensive because Jada isn't the only Black woman with alopecia and being compared to the bald G.I. Jane, as played by the beautiful Demi Moore can be seen as a compliment, so it's looking like something IS mentally emotionally wrong with WS. Maybe it was an accumulation of all the taunts he'd been getting because of his wife's extra-curricular activities and, instead of talking to Chris after the show about it, he tried to show how tough he could be and instead made a fool of himself on National Television, embarrassed his race. Helpful Lady REALLY did not want to go but sacrificed her want to help her son and his family out. Hopefully Apache will stay in contact with her, let us know how it works out.

  5. I'm not a fan of Chris Rock and didn't like him poking fun at JPS's alopecia. But celebrities roasting each other is nothing new. Slapping on live TV, now...

    1. I'm not so sure he was making fun of her alopecia. She had a new look. As far as I know, he'd not seen it before, made a G.I. Jane joke about it. I can see the day coming when I'll have to shave my braids off. If someone calls me G.I. Jane, I'll be flattered.

  6. I'm glad Trainer is charitable and treats the Homeless with dignity and basic Humanity, the vast majority will respond accordingly, as most people, except for truly deranged/disturbed ones, just want what every Human Being instinctively does. We never know their back stories unless we engage. Ms. Beverly Hills is out of her insulated environment and seeing Real Life now. I think why so many lack basic compassion and accurate information is they've had zero exposure to so much of what is Wrong in Society and live in their insulated bubbles. I Believe that is why things like Pretentiousness, Racism, various Stereotypes based on Ignorance, exist and could be conquered. People I know who aren't well Traveled get most information about other Countries and Cultures from unreliable sources and misinformation since they haven't had any firsthand experiences to form accurate opinions. I'm glad Apache seems okay even tho' MIA, which is curious that he's conspicuous by his absence tho', No? I did not see the Slap heard around the World and based on what you explained to Mitchell, apparently feigned chivalry was his 'excuse'? Jada is gorgeous with or without Hair and Demi pulled off the Bald look Beautifully too, as does Sinead O'Connor, Amber Rose, to name just a few. It takes real Beauty or Handsomeness to pull off Bald. I remember having such a Crush on Yul Brynner and he didn't look as Handsome when he had Hair.

    1. "Toxic Masculinity" is how WS's behavior is being described. I had to look that phrase up as I've never heard it before. Someone else described WS's behavior as "Tiny Penis". Both expressions seem to fit as it was taking something innocuous to react to because he'd done nothing about all the big stuff his wife was being talked about for doing. Since he and Chris are not in the same weight category, Will figured he could handle him, not the others. LOL. I can't wait to see Chris' next Special. He'll probably work the slap into his comedy routine.
