Moderna Part 4

News last week was no need to continue to wear masks.

I have to say, I was tempted; but something inside said "nope, keep the mask on", so I’m still wearing mine.

A day later, I turn around and there’s news of a surge in China — a portent of what might be coming our way perhaps.

Then came news of a new variant — BA.2.

Now comes this morning news of a possible 4th Moderna booster, and reimposing of the mask mandate.

The powers that be can’t seem to get their shitz together, and it’s giving me whiplash — all this back and forth.

I’m not liking the idea of a 4th booster but, if it’s to be, I’ll of course get the shot.

Yesterday's BP readings were all over the map.

Starting off at 145/61 — even though I’d abstained from coffee that morning, I’d managed it down to 137/69 by the time I left the unit headed for the medical center.

By time of the nurse’s first reading, it had jumped to 149 — probably because I was trying to deep breath and she kept interrupting with questions … do you exercise … how often … what kind … how tall are you … how much do you weigh.

Ignoring her questions during the second reading, I posted 113/57.

So that’s off the to-do list, but I’m sure the doctor will next request a blood draw — hopefully a non-fast.

Because I don’t want to waste the gas, I’ve no plans to go anywhere do anything this weekend. Besides, with the Breaking Bad Marathon to begin running this Saturday, for five consecutive Saturdays, I’m blocking off the next five weekends for this event.

Speaking of breaking bad. Maddie, over at A Day With the Mistress Borghese, will appreciate this, my latest Reface.

  2. The photo is lovely, but you really should consider not smoking anymore.

Sorry about the whiplash. Cities and states, and the usual know-it-all politicians without medical degrees are simply reacting to how covid spreads instead of being preventative. Most people can't stand to be preventative because they won't learn about how viruses mutate and spread. Yes, the BA2 version is already showing up in the sewer treatment plants in about 1/4 of the U.S. Large cities overseas are rampant with it. Some of those cities didn't vax their elderly first. So now, even a weaker virus is making those weaker folks get a "mild" version but still dying.
Those who are vaxed but were more cautious about their behaviors: making anyway, staying apart, are not catching covid as much. The sloppy citizens, even vaxed are catching it. The sloppy citizens who are not vaxed are still dying from it.
We've only reached 65% or so vaxed. We need 85% now to have any herd immunity, which helps us protect the idiots who won't get vaxed. So, it will continue going around the world. Yep, any boosters offered should be accepted. Since we won't get to 85% vaxed, it will require a yearly shot for the remaining smart people. I use Medscape.com for best, current info without the drama. Linda in Kansas

    1. I just read an article that pretty much said what you said, that the difference in catching it or not catching it, whether vaxxed or not is you've either been cautious or sloppy.

  3. Mask mandates should never have been lifted yet. From Biden on down, including the CDC need to get their act together and get on the same damn page. It's so up and down. Either keep them mandates, or get rid of them all together. Personally I don't give two flying figs who says what. I will keep wearing mine when I need to, and if I don't feel safe.

And yasssss girl....your Pulp look is even more bad ass then your Walking Dead look!!!!!!!

    1. I too am using common sense, rather than going by what the pundits have to say. Besides, my masks are too glamorous to not be worn. :-)

    2. I have a drawer full of pretty masks that I will continue to wear when grocery shopping but I have N95 masks to wear to school for storytelling. LIttle kids haven't been vaccinated very well in our area.

  5. Ok, I love the reface cover. That is awesome!
The powers that be have no idea what they're doing. That much is for sure. If Covid numbers start to increase again I'm sure the mask mandate will be put back in place. But so many people continue to try and fight it that government officials seem to want to do away with it before they should.

    1. I think you're right. They've been bowing to public pressure to return things to as they were before, even though it's not yet prudent to do so.

  6. Love, love, love, the pulp fiction. Glad the second reading worked. That's how it is for me.

    1. This having to watch the BP, check in for regular readings, is a pain in the butt.

  7. Your blood pressure numbers sound very good. I learned a long time ago not to talk when having BP taken so that nurse didn't help you when she kept asking you questions. My doctor has me sit, very quietly for awhile, before they take my blood pressure.

  8. The Reface is Fierce! As for Masks... the on and off again is just a LOT, I do go without mine more now than ever before, since, even wearing one Religiously, I still got The Rona in January anyway. I'll just keep getting my Boosters tho', this isn't going away and I think the surges and variants will keep us on our Toes for a long time now, Globally, and worse in Countries that don't take it as Seriously.
