Remember the “Where’s Bernie game” that was going around a while back? I think I found him … in the flesh.
I popped into the corner market after this morning’s workout and there he was. LOL.
Driving through the parking lot a week ago, heading to the drug store, I saw a different security guard standing outside the market. Same uniform, so same company, which led me to believe the other security guard was history.
A few days after that, I popped into the market because I thought the coast was clear and, sure enough, he appeared to have been replaced, which caused me not to hesitate to pop in after this morning’s workout.
Walking in, I saw no one.
Walking out, there he was … the old security guard. Guess he was on vacation last week.
At any rate, he was engaged in conversation, didn’t look up, so I was able to get out without feeling harassed by his eyes.
I began taking down my Halloween decorations before I headed out to the Pain Cave this morning. Finishing upon my return, everything is now back in storage until next year. Looking around the unit, it’s almost as if Halloween never happened … except for the leftover goodies.
Halloween night was a bust — not a single trick or treater.
Oh well. The kiddies missed out on some good safe oreo cookies and full-sized candy bars.
Heading out this morning, I drove the long way around the complex, so I could look for the mysterious 2nd Place Patio winner.
Lo and Behold, there were some pretty nice displays set up that side of the building, which surprised me. Surprised because they were not there the last two times I’d driven the long way out looking for patio displays.
I can only conclude these were pop-ups — set up just days before Halloween.
I don’t see the point with so few days left in the month to enjoy your work, but whatever.
The Monthly Calendar, posted to my door just minutes ago, makes it official ... the patio with the creepy doll won First Place.
Second Place was one of the patios I spied with my little eyes when I drove around this morning.
Second Place |
Third Place, as stated in the last post, was neighbor across the quad downstairs corner unit.
This one, that I also just saw this morning, was nice, but did not place.
As for what they won … trophies.
Little trophies, with a pumpkin head topper.
Trophies that I suspect were paid for with the money budgeted for our now cancelled November and December Arts & Crafts sessions.
"paid for with"
ReplyDeleteThe tyrant strikes again.
He's a slick one.
DeleteWe didn't have any decorations in this complex that I saw. I had my usual Halloween/Fall decorations up inside. I'll just remove the witch and the bat and I'll be ok for Fall/Thanksgiving. I love to decorate but I just don't have the room to save decorations. Without my two walk-in closets I'm really pressed for room as it is.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about room. Between Halloween, Christmas, books and crafts, my outdoor storage area is at capacity. I think those with all those decorations pictured have them stored in their garages where cars should be.
DeleteTalk about robbing peter to pay Paul. I look forward to what crafts you would do next.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what he did ... robbed Peter to pay Paul, and thinks we'd ALL be too stupid to see how he's manipulated things. No matter. I've got Arts & Crafts of my own to catch up on ... scrapbooking, a baby quilt, and that endless needlepoint tapestry.
DeleteYou have to admit, that doll was pretty creepy.
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of, sorry your security guard was just gone for a few days rather than replaced.
Yep. She deserved that win. Turns out she actually put up the 2nd place winner's display as well. The items on his patio are hers. They are not exactly a couple, but have "dated" from time to time over the years I've lived here. Being able to shop where I want was nice while it lasted.
DeleteThe displays were pretty good.
ReplyDeleteYes, and maybe these dispays will encourage more to set up for Halloween next year.
DeleteFun to see people getting into decorating. Will you put up deck decorations for Christmas? Viv
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. I live for setting up my Christmas patio decorations. I always set up a lighted outdoor tree and lighted boxes, because it makes me think of when I was a kid and mom would take us downtown to see displays in shop windows.
