The Great Pumpkin

While out and about today, I picked up a warty looking pumpkin to decorate.

Intrigued by the look of it, I learned it to be a Knucklehead Pumpkin, part of "a specialty line known as Superfreak which was developed by Siegers Seed Co. in Holland, Michigan, intentionally bred for their warty skin".

The plan was, using a decorating kit, to turn it into a mummy.

I didn’t realize the kit required carving the guts from the pumpkin.

I don’t carve, so I painted instead and, with the warts making it difficult to do so, the pumpkin came out looking more like a sick pissed off hospital patient, rather than a mummy, but I like the way it came out.

I think it’s going to scare the crap out of Next-Door Neighbor when she next opens her door.

I'll be listening for her scream, followed by a knock on the door.

    1. First time I've ever seen a warty pumpkin. The diseased look of the skin is a decoration in itself.

  6. It's perfect! I never carve a pumpkin because they rot too fast.

    1. I wouldn't know how to carve a pumpkin, but craft paint works just as well.

  7. I love the way it came out. Every time I carve a pumpkin I swear it just looks so wrong it looks like a 5-year-old did it. I will leave the pumpkin carving to my daughter.

    1. I can't imagine carving a pumpkin to be easy or fun. I'd rather paint.

  9. Love your Angry Pumpkin Creation... and I like the Heirloom Varieties of Pumpkins too, but, they are notoriously impossible to Carve so I'm glad you didn't try to. We've tried to and Wow, what an Ordeal. These Pumpkins last as long as Gourds tho', our last one from Halloween 2022 lased 'til the end of August!!! Princess T so far hasn't asked for a Pumpkin to Carve yet. Even the Dollar Stores this Year are charging more than a Buck for them, the price of Pumpkins this Year seems much higher than normal.

    1. I'd actually heard pumpkins were going to be hard to find this year. Haven't noticed a shortage, but that propaganda gave the sellers a good excuse for raising the price.

  10. PS: I'm thinking your Pumpkin with his Bubbly Warts looks like a Burn Victim...

  11. Holland Michigan isn't far from where I live! Can't believe their pumpkins made it that far west. Pumpkin mummy is cute, not scary.

    1. ROFLMAO! But, if the patients don't have a sense of humor, It might scare them away from trusting the doc to operate on them.

Your angry patient pumpkin is great! Did you make the arms too, and if so, how?
