Down The Rabbit Hole

Moderna No. 2 started off easy peasy, but Day 2 hit like a ton of bricks, sent me down the rabbit hole — dizzy, chills, no energy, yada yada yada.

My body went into protective mode, shut down so it could heal — hibernation. I slept off/on all day remainder of the week.

With so much sleeping during the day, I feared I’d be up all night.

Not so.

I’d fall asleep, yet again, the moment my head hit the pillow and slept straight through to morning.

One thing I learned from the experience was that being indoors all day because I'm an introvert, or due to a Pandemic Quarantine, was very different from being indoors all day because I did not feel well.

During the pandemic, I could read, needlepoint, watch copious amounts of television, browse the internet. Whereas, while recovering from Shot No. 2, I could not hold a needle, a book, or stay awake long enough to boot up the laptop or watch television. Which is why I began to feel what many of those, who did not handle quarantine well, must have felt — restlessness, bouts of anger for not much reason in one moment, weeping spells for no reason in another moment.

Think back to teen angst, when the chemical imbalance in our body sent our emotions all over the map.

It was a really bad trip down the rabbit hole, and today is the first day I feel I’ve climbed far enough out to be able to function.

Running into the neighbor who lives downstairs, underneath next door neighbor’s unit, a few weeks ago, she indicated she’d not been vaccinated and had no plans to be.

I know how some of you feel about unvaccinated humans being a danger to us all. I don’t necessarily think that’s true, so long as they mask up and keep their distance, so I didn’t judge her for that, and still don’t.

I myself was late to jumping onboard and if I could go back and choose again, having experienced what I experienced, not yet 100% AND re-living the teen angst chemical imbalance thing, I’d opt to join neighbor in taking my chances on not.

Not yet back to needlepoint but, once again, enjoying copious amounts of television viewing as I lounge on the couch, I could have done without seeing Thing 45 on the news this morning asking, “Do you miss me yet?”.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s my answer.

I can almost hear the voice of our recently departed blog friend, Anne Marie in Philly, in my head saying “JFC! JAIL THE SOB ALREADY!”

  1. I no not one side effect from my Pfizer shots. Most I now had the Madonna shot, lol, and most had side effects to some degree. Im relived I didn't. But I have gotten over the fucking unvaccinated humans being a danger. Down the road, weeks months years we are going to come into contact eventually. It's inevitable.

    And fuck that bastard!!!!!

Seems weird no Saturday Morning Dance ditties from Anne Marie

    1. Moderna was touted as being the easiest on us older humans. So, I shutter to think what impact one of the others would have had on me. It sounds like you too are channeling Anne Marie with "And fuck that bastard!!!!!" LOL. Amazing how she's imprinted on us all.

    2. LOL! I knew you'd love that! I got my vaccine from my mother's rehab who offered them to family members only, so I had no choice. They only offered Pfizer.

Hope you weekend is going good!

  2. I had the Pfizer and had no reaction to either the first or second shot. I glad you did the shots. It was worth it whether you think so or not. Now you're not going to die... from COVID anyway.

    1. "Now you're not going to die... from COVID anyway" LOL, but self fulfilling prophesy because, if you will recall, that was my reluctance ... that I wasn't going to die but might end up wishing I had. At any rate, nearly out of the hole. Soon this being all over the place, emotionally speaking chemical imbalance, will be a distant memory.

  3. Glad you're on the mend from Jab No. 2 and it just means your body reacted to things as it probably should have. Not getting the Vaccine, can you only imagine how much worse it would be to cope with the actual Virus?! Those I know who have had The COVID, with the exception of The Son who was Asymptomatic, said it was a near Death experience and worse than anything they'd ever had, so I trusted their Testimonies and didn't wanna risk it. We were fortunate with Pfizer not to have any horrible side effects, which was a surprise actually, since The Man and I were high risk individuals. Princess T gets her 2nd Jab of Teen Pfizer Monday Afternoon, I'm hopeful she has no adverse reaction, she didn't for No. 1 and is in Summer School Classes now so I don't want her to feel sickly at all. Plus, a Teen not feeling good is fresh Hell. Almost as bad as a Man not feeling good. *LOL* As for the Orange waste of breath, and a few other vile Politicians, is there any Hex we could put on them to just make them go away? Like, FOREVER?! Just a thought... it would indeed be a Public Service and make the World a better place for all.

    1. I doubt Princess T will be as extra as I was with this vaccination. Not sure why it took me to the edge of hell, but the worst of it seems to be over. I’ve still got that voodoo doll I made of Thing 45. I might have to add additional pins.

  5. So sorry to hear that the 2nd shot was so hard on you. I took the J&J vaccine and was lucky not to have any side effects at all.

    1. From what I've been hearing, the vaccinations are affecting everyone differently. I was one of the unlucky ones to have a bad reaction. One of our maintenance workers, who actually had Covid and lived to tell, just got his first shot and was unable to lift his arm after. So many differing reactions and no one seems to be documenting, other than word of mouth as we talk about it.

  6. I was early to the vaccine line because of my diabetes. I was afraid that the vaccine could kill me but I knew covid definitely would. My second shot wasn't as bad as yours but I had a iron-like knot in my arm for a week or so. Right now I'm still glad I did it. Two of my best friends have no intention of getting the shot and I am mad at them for risking their life and mine.

    1. As long as those who don't take the shots wear masks and keep their distance, I think those of us vaxxed folks should be okay.
