On the 17th Day of Christmas ……………

I never made it to Sprouts or the Drug Store today as planned. Ongoing family drama ate up my energy, and the time it took to organize, edit and post the 55 pics from yesterday’s event to the residents’ website took up my time.

Rather than push myself to even leave the unit, not to mention drive out of the area, I ordered the needed specialty items online and expect delivery before I’ve depleted what little remains on hand.

Basic staples can be replenished at the market after Monday’s workout.

All in all, barring unforeseen circumstances, I don’t have to leave the unit, face the world until Monday.

In the meantime, there’s needlepoint and my latest project to work on.

Yes, I’ve been bitten by the Gingerbread Build Bug.

We’ll see how this one goes.

The Guessing Game Results are in.

The front runner is Olivia with 6 out of 10.

Mitchell and Bob tied for second with 5 out of 10.

Mitchell scores brownie points for pointing out Cratchit was in A Christmas Story, not Scrooge. None of us caught that error at yesterday’s event — probably because none of us knew the answer either way.

Bob was the most humorous with Christmas Trees being decorated with small edible children. ROFLMAO!

Sorry Debra. You’re in the bottom, with 2 out of 10, but you did better than some of the seniors that got zero, zilt, nada out of 10.

Now for the answers given at yesterday’s event.

1) What direction is Santa’s Route? — EAST.

2) Bob Cratchit’s son’s name? — TINY TIM.

3) What is made for Christmas but never eaten? — FRUIT CAKE, which answer I thought to be disputable, a trick question, because some people do eat it.

4) What were the very first Christmas Trees decorated with? You were correct if you answered any of the following — APPLES, GINGERBREAD COOKIES, NUTS, WHITE CANDIES.

5) What is traditionally put on top of a Christmas Tree? — ANGEL.

6) What was the name of Frosty’s girlfriend? — KAREN!!!!

7) What color is Holly? — GREEN.

8) What Christmas beverage is called Milk Punch? — EGGNOG.

9) What words follow "Silent Night"? — HOLY NIGHT.

10) What happens every time a bell rings? — AN ANGEL GETS ITS WINGS.

Some of you who did not post your answers, but kept a list — like Drum Major/Linda in Kansas ..... How’d you do?

  2. 5 out of 10? Better than I thought. But, Crystal married Frosty in Frosty’s Winter Wonderland (Shelly Winter’s was the voice). So I give myself a 6. I LOVE [good] fruitcake.

    1. I'll take your word for it because, though I'm familiar with the Burl Ives song about Frosty, I've never heard it all the way through and don't know the movie. But tell me ... if Frosty married Crystal was Karen like his side chick or what. Was Frosty a hound dog?

    2. Well, I thought Karen was that nasty, ignorant, racist neighbor.

    3. I stand corrected, which means you tied with Olivia. I don't know where the Baker, who ran the Question game, got the name Karen from, but she emphasized it as KAREN!!! when she later called out the answer. It's looking like our neighborhood Karen is nasty, ignorant, but may not be racist. She's been smiling at me, waving at me, trying to trap me in conversation/make my acquaintance when she sees me outside. I'm not feeling it. I'm trying to be polite but want nothing to do with her. Not that I'm influenced by her beefing with Talker or chasing Dream Lover but because I can SEE and FEEL she's not someone I want near me.

  3. 2 out of 10. And the internet agrees with Mitchell. Crystal was Frosty's girlfriend.
And Thursday it's supposed to be zero degrees here. F not C. I'll send some your way!
Up in Canada in Whitehorse Yukon right now it's -33F. 😁

    1. I don't know how anyone survive in those temperatures. It seems the Baker, who was running the Question game, fell down on the job. Both with Cratchit in the wrong film and Frosty with Crystal instead of Karen, but the fact remains ..... where did she get the name Karen. Is there no Karen in Frosty's story?

  5. I got Five Right on the Quiz, some of them I'd never have guessed, but I did like the silly humorous answers some contestants gave... edible Children, bwahahaha. You and Princess T have the Gingerbread Bug, I have a whole Countertop now filled with her Creations from Kits... no telling how long she expects me to keep them on Display?

    1. So obvious that made it easy to miss. Not one of us residents got it either.

  7. I didn't know we were supposed to post the answers; I wrote them down. I got 5 wrong and 5 right. Poo. I still think Santa goes south; it's all south from the North Pole. Linda in Kansas

    1. Since I'm still confused about the Baker's answer to Frosty's Girlfriend being Karen, I wouldn't doubt the possibility of the answer to Santa's direction also being wrong. But you broke even with 5 out of 5.
