She Did, They Didn’t

In spite of it raining cats and dogs, Activity Director did show up with dirt, seeds, starter pots; but we were not regaled with a perp walk today.

Seeing you know who being perp walked in the rain would have been AWESOME. However, like Scarlett O’Hara said to Rhett Butler in Gone with The Wind, "There is always hope. After all, tomorrow is another day".

I did enjoy Mary Trump’s take, describing her uncle as being "stochastic" — pulling from his usual playbook by calling on supporters to protest, using the same play he always does.

As far as I know, protests were few.

I did read some supporters were planning a bank run form of protesting — remove money from the bank in an attempt to crash the system.

To this, I laughed and laughed and laughed because I could imagine criminals lining up to follow and rob those protestors of said cash — a crime that’s being called "bank jugging", which has me paying close attention to what cars are behind me, as I drive back to the complex after a withdrawal.

In one jugging robbery, the bad guys followed a woman 24 miles, all the way to her front door to relieve her of cash withdrawn.

So anyway, no perp walk, no jugging today.

Activity Director impressed me with showing up on such a lousy day. However, instead of starting our "Own Healthy Garden. Learn about healthy HERBS and start your own garden!" we ended up with FLOWERS.

When I pointed out that I can’t eat flowers, AD said we could plant them in the areas outside our units or in the Community Garden.

"Can’t do that. It’s not allowed", said I with others in attendance chiming in that the landscapers were long ago ordered to destroy the rose gardens and any other plants residents had planted, and we were told nothing was to be planted on complex grounds … that we do not have privy to the ground outside our patios. Furthermore, the Community Garden, a Certified Wildlife Habitat, was also destroyed.

AD was surprised, said she’d see if she could get the rule changed about personal plants (silly girl), and doubly surprised about the Community Garden as the other Corporate owned communities still have theirs.

The way I remember it ... one of our previous Managers (I don't recall which) went to pull up the Wildlife Certification sign and was told by the residents who'd paid for the certification, provided all the plants, benches, and maintained the area, that she couldn't do that, couldn't just decertify it by pulling up the sign.

"I can do anything I want", said she and proved it.

Why the Community Garden residents that witnessed the slaughter did not report her to the Wildlife Federation, which would have resulted in consequences for Corporate and the Manager, I do not know, but what was once a peaceful Garden of Eden sitting area, is now scorched earth.

So anyway, next week AD will be bringing in terra cotta pots to transfer our plants into.

I’ll be very surprised if my starter plants are still alive by then, as I lost my Green Thumb some time ago.

    1. Ha! I wrote the names of the seeds on those sticks, so I can know which is which should they take root.

  2. Stochastic, well, I learned a new Word, which is a perfect description of her Uncle, and she's a Clinical Psychologist, so should know. Her Book about him was interesting, but no real Surprises or actual Tea Spilled, everyone pretty much SHOULD know what a Scoundrel he and his Father were and have always been. Their Fortunes were always made questionably, any Indictment that happens now will really be a slap on the Wrist since the most Serious Crimes the Family has commit for Generations has never been Prosecuted like it should have been... too difficult to prove and Convict the really Bad Actor Crimes. So, like Al Capone, must rely on getting them for lesser Crimes that have no reasonable Doubts in Court and easily Proven. Anyway, Sad about your Community Garden carnage and she really didn't have any Right to doing that and should have been Reported. The ignorance of the Hired Help about Rules and Regulations make it obvious that most of the forbidden things at your location are just Made Up on whims and enforced by Employees who don't really have the Authority, but take the Actions anyway and don't let other Staff know what's going on, in order probably to cover their Asses from being Reported? I like your little Windowsill Collection, even if your Seedlings don't Survive until Potting Day. I'm LMAO about the prospect of The Lunatic MAGAt Fringe making a run on Banks, withdrawing all their Life's Savings/Earnings, then getting Jugged! They aren't the brightest or most Aware crew... I recall when they finally overran the Capitol on Jan 6th, they didn't know what the Hell to do except Hillbilly stereotypical shit like taking ridiculous Selfies or mebbe an actual shit on Nancy Pelosi's Desk, dumb uneducated backwards MF's, no wonder they're so easy for a consummate Conman to manipulate and weaponize... they see so much of themselves IN him... after all, he thought Belgium was a City, among other ignorant statements that are classic Comedy Fodder you just can't make up. Good Lord, with all the Money his Daddy had he couldn't Buy that Stupid Child of his an Education and make him remotely appear Educated, could he? *Eye Roll*

    1. I'll have to post the photo of a funny shirt I saw online. I wasn't interested in buying it but it gave me the giggles depicting a likeness of all the former presidents ... white, white, white, etc., black guy, clown, white. It's hard to believe management nearly lost their minds when painted rocks began beautifying the place, but are not embarrassed by the now scorched earth area of the complex which was brought about by their first interfering with how the area was set up and then illegal decertification.

  3. Well, at least there was planting. The incompetence and lack of knowledge/awareness of that team astounds me.

    1. They are consistently stupid, like it that way and keep it that way by getting rid of anyone who doesn't tow the party line.

  4. Some news channel showed jerk supporters on the bridge / roadway to Mar-A-Lago: disgusting. You could plant and eat dandelions. I'd be concerned that cats would pee on herbs, I don't know why. Sneak some herb seeds into your "flower" seeds and see what happens! What bizarre rules to not allow exterior plantings and the certified garden! Jeepers! Even in Kansas we have these fields that are certified to be like the original prairie grasses and flowers, AND in the south part of our metro by a small airport, is a "pollinator plot" of about 6 acres with plants to help all the little bees keep the world going. Doesn't Florida have wasps and hornets? Linda in Kansas (We will have a yellow thick layer of dust on our cars soon. It's not dirt, it's pure pollen trying to fertilize our vehicles and makes our sinuses rebel.)

    1. Yellow dust doesn't sound like fun, the source of which sounds similar to why some snow is yellow. Only in this case it's bee pee.

  5. I have no luck with plants; luckily Carlos s quite good at it or our house would be barren!

  6. The community garden looked great before they ruined it. My daughter planted a small garden in front of our door last month. Let's see how long that lasts.

    1. I'm surprise one of the Corporate inspectors hasn't made a big deal of the now unsightly area and, as managers come and go, I doubt they even know the area did not always look like that. Let's see a photo of your daughter's garden on your blog before it disappears.

  7. My, my. Didn't that improve the property when the lovely garden was destroyed. What was the point?

    1. A bunch of nothing Managers coming through here trying to be something by ruling us seniors with an iron hand. They don't last long, but the damage they cause lives on.

  8. Shocking that they took away the community garden. So sad when one miserable person can take away something which can give others pleasure.

    1. That was just for starters. Through the years, as managers came and went, decisions were made to remove the Community Room coffee machine, the Wi-Fi so we have no TV in the room to watch or Wii Bowl or have movie night. Good news is there's not much more they can deny us, LOL.

  9. Oh what a shame, the garden looked lovely before. I never thought about being watched when withdrawing cash, and then being followed, thank you, I will be more vigilant now.
