I think it was last Friday when, while sitting on the couch, I spotted a patch of red through the patio window.
Made me think of a horror movie I saw where, much like here, the powers that be had removed that which was colorful from the community’s landscape … plus the color red specifically was so forbidden that a monster appeared and someone’s life would be ended over it.
It’s probably just a matter of time before our monster — management and/or the Edward Scissorhands Landscaper, finds a reason to remove the colorful tree.
THEN, as I got out of bed this morning, I spied patches of what looked like green grass peeking out through the rocks below.
They dug up the grass, put plastic sheeting in place, covered with rocks, and nature is still finding a way through.
I find that hilarious and can’t imagine what our monster can do about it.
Yesterday was a hard day due to a doctor’s appointment I didn’t ask for, the doctor’s office schedule the appointment with my primary for no good reason other than to piss me off and piss me off they did by sending me messages, a day or so before the appointment, under the guise of Personal Action Plan, wanting to know the main reason for the visit.
After ignoring the first two messages, only to receive a third, I responded "Hell if I know", because THEY scheduled the appointment and then had the nerves to bug me about the nature of the visit, though I knew the nature was just checking in … a cattle call that I didn’t want to participate in but had to if I wanted to continue getting blood pressure medication, which is about all the medical provider is good for.
Unnecessary cattle call it turned out to be, because all the doctor did was take my blood pressure, stethoscope my chest, send me down to the Lab for a blood test, all of which she usually just sends me a notice to get taken care of, no hassle no visit required.
But the thing was, this appointment, in addition to being a waste of my time, was scheduled for the primary's office at the main medical center, where parking is a nightmare.
In fact, I spent an estimated 25 or so minutes, along with a mass of other vehicles, trying to find parking, got so frustrated that myself said to myself, "Screw it", drove out of the medical center area, hit the streets and began driving back home, but saw a shopping center, pulled in, parked by an Aldi’s Grocery Store, walked down Sierra Blvd to Valley Blvd, down Valley Blvd to Medical Center Parkway, crossed the parking area to the doctor’s building, a 20-minute hike, arriving late of course and just waiting for the receptionist to say "you’re late" so I could explode.
Fortunately, scheduling was behind, no one said anything to set me off until the doctor’s nurse took my weight and blood pressure.
Weight could have been better, but was better than I expected, considering I’ve not exercised or dieted to make up for lack of exercise; but the parking situations and having to hike had so frustrated me that my BP was 178 over I forget.
The nurse said, "I’m going to have to refer you to the blood pressure clinic".
"NO!" I yelled, "IT’S BECAUSE I’M UPSET I SPENT 25 MINUTES LOOKING FOR PARKING, GOT SO FRUSTRATED THAT I HEADED HOME, ENDED UP PARKING BY ALDI'S, HAD TO WALK HERE AND PROBABLY WILL NEED TO CALL A CAB TO TAKE ME BACK TO MY CAR!"
I was expecting a call for "Security", but she instead wisely backed off with "okay" and had me wait another 15 minutes in the outside waiting area before calling me back into a room for the doctor, during which time I took the extra BP pill I carry with me for just in case situations, so I wouldn't have a stroke in the doctor's office or on the hike back to the jeep.
Having calmed down by the time the doctor arrived to prove the visit was indeed a waste of my time, I was down to 152/78, calm and back to my friendly self as the Lab later took blood. It helped that when the Lab's check-in person asked me to verify my birthdate, and said, "OMG You look Great" when she realized I was 82.
Done with the Lab, I hiked back to the jeep and, once back home, the memory of having wasted my time and that horrible parking experience behind me, clocked in at 105/48.
The plan for today was to do absolutely nothing. Just rest from yesterday, because yesterday took a lot out of me; but then Crafty Lady asked me to come down to the Community Room, where Kesha had them playing bingo, to pick up a t-shirt she’d made for me.
The resident’s 4th of July party is this Thursday the 2nd. Crafty Lady has made t-shirts for all the organizers, with logos she matched to our personalities, including one for me as the group’s photographer.
I didn’t dawdle in the Community Room … just took photos of the other personalized logos for the residents’ Facebook page, brought mine upstairs, tried it on.
Didn’t like it — it’s white, and white is not flattering to my body type … It adds pounds to my overall frame and inches to my ta tas, which need lessening rather than enhancing, plus I felt restrained in the tee, couldn’t breathe, so I decided to pimp it. The bougies call it Upcycling these days.
Whether pimp or upcycle, a lot can go wrong … I’ve had more failures than successes and was taking a big risk I’d mess up, not be able to wear the tee on Thursday, would have to admit to Crafty Lady and the others that I screwed it up.
A little scared, I went for it, starting with cutting the sleeves completely off.

That's more like it. Trying it on, the tee felt better already … looked like a muscle tee; but still needing that collar off my neck, I folded the tee in half, cut a little triangle out at the neck area.

Pimped up nicely. However, as soon as I find my marking pen … which I had in my hand at one point in the process, and somehow magically disappeared, I’ll use the marker to mark where I can cut the V into a U.
In other t-shirt news, I've added two new ones to my collection.

Your BP should have elevated with all that nonsense, I'm glad you avoided Stroking Out over it. You do look ahhhmazing for 82 my Friend, I wanna be you when I Grow Up. Yes, both of us play with the same Dolls. *Winks* The Daughter stuck a Pin in the Eyeball of my Donnie Two Dolls Troll Voodoo Doll so if you see him favoring an Eye... it's working. *Bwahahahahaha*
ReplyDeleteYou and daughter need to add "Still play with dolls" to your collection. Hope the pin in the eyeball works. Every little bit helps. Last week, a witch did a spell at his star on Hollywood Blvd.
DeleteI love your black shirts! Actually I cringed at the white, but the words are cool. Pimped out it is more your style and you made it fabulous. I am surprised your bp wasn't even higher at the appointment. I'm glad you didn't have to deck the nurse.
ReplyDelete"Deck the nurse" 🤣🤣 I'm glad it didn't come to that as well.
DeleteYou are the Reigning Queen of T-shirts! Love those two you bought! Crafty Lady picked the right logo for your personality but I agree with you about white t-shirts. I never wear a white t-shirt in public, only as a nightie in bed. Sheesh, I just realized I wear t-shirts 24/7, lol.
ReplyDeleteIn warm weather, I sleep in t-shirts as well, LOL. In cold weather, I sleep in camo onesies. I've actually been thinking about getting proper sleepwear but talked myself out of it cause the tees are too comfortable and I've no one to impress or complain about what I sleep in.
DeleteI might have suggested that since the doctor made the appointment for you, that they send an Uber to pick you up and take you home!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd have Blood Pressured that nurse right out of the office!
That said, the pimped out shirt looks so much better and, of course I lovelovelove the other two!
I just received a "how was your visit" survey. I'm going to suggest Ubers to solve the no parking situation, LOL.
DeleteMy own BP went up just reading about your appointment nightmare! Clever redo of the white T, and I love your two new shirts. I’m a 24/7 tshirt wearer these days.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how Crafty Lady, and the others, react to the redo.
DeleteI don't like white t-shirts either, but in my case it's because I always manage to spill dinner on myself when I'm wearing one!
ReplyDeleteIn addition to not wearing white after Labor Day, showing spillage is another good reason to ditch that color.
DeleteGetting an appointment you didn't ask for or want is as bad as not being able to get one when you do want one. My doctor's office never uses the first blood pressure reading they get because we, too, have a long way to walk just to get to the office. Not as long as you did. That should have told them a lot about your fitness.
ReplyDeleteLove the words on the shirt you pimped out. You need to tell the person who made it, "I normally don't wear white" or you'll get another one next time you're on a committee. Says the woman how keeps getting Maxine Calendars from a niece and I don't like Maxine's surly humor.
"That should have told them a lot about your fitness". I'd not thought of that, but you're right. However, I'm paying for it now because I wasn't wearing proper walking shoes and am now dealing with having a relapse of an old bone spur injury. Limping like crazy. Crafty Lady may be so upset that I pimped out the shirt she paid good money for and took the time to pick out, pay for and add the image that she'll never make me another tee, leaves me out next time, LOL. But if she asks, I'll be honest with her about white not being my preferred color.
DeleteYour T shirts have made my day! We were watching a French TV series this week and one of the episodes was called Namaste Bitch. I cracked up when I saw that. I love how sassy you’re making that sassy T-shirt. Great job. I put on a white linen short-sleeved shirt this morning. I spilled pureed tomato on it from my tostada! I wouldn’t mind a shirt that added inches to the ta tas (or pecs in my case). The voodoo doll T-shirt is so YOU.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have made your day 😊. Is your white shirt ruined or can you get the stain out? I cracked up when I saw "Still Play with Dolls" cause I too thought it was soooo me.
DeleteSurprisingly, the stains easily came out with just cold water.
DeleteI'm surprised. You're lucky.
DeleteOh dear, you're being a sweet little firecracker! Ya know, Medicare requires an in-person visit, much less to check your bp and heart rate and sound. Yep, the parking is poopy, like an orthopaedic doc on the second floor. It takes 20 minutes for pills to start working, so be careful taking extra pills. That was a tad low when you got home. It would be a bad doc to keep giving you bp pills without listening to your sassy heart. I remember the days when we couldn't get more birth control pills without being seen by a doc.
ReplyDeleteA white tee will help in the heat and sunshine, but you altered it nicely. JDV is sounding a tad worse that 47, so I'm hoping what's left of the Supreme Court will keep 47 in tow until he's out, however. Poopy Supreme Court these days. Stay safe, stay outta jail. Keep hydrated. Happy Hopeful Fourth! Linda in Kansas
Now that I know the waste of time was required by Medicare, I'll transfer being pissed at the doc's office to being pissed at Medicare. I'm keeping hydrated, but frustration over that parking situation could have easily gotten worse than it did, landed me in jail.
DeleteOMG. Still plays with dolls is such a Hoot. Yes, the problem with tees is that they are not made to compliment all body types. You did a good job with the scissors.
ReplyDeleteYes, not made for all body types AND size of tees vary when they should not ... some in one's size fits nicely, others in same size come way too large and too long. I ended up cutting off a whole 6 inches from the length just before I headed for the event.
DeleteDoctors offices where they don't have suitable parking is always a nightmare. I like what you did with the shirt.
ReplyDeleteNo one said anything about the shirt being cut, but I bet they were thinking ... what the hell, LOL.
