That Woozy Feeling

Not much to blog about lately, which seems to be the result of not hanging out with the seniors at bingo, and only leaving my unit for workouts, grocery shopping, errands.

In my few goings/comings, having not seen hide nor hair of that weird little man, I was beginning to think he might not be a resident, but someone who took the opportunity of walking in through the open gate. That is until yesterday when, through the patio window, I saw him walking down the walkway.

Heading who knows where, he was walking fast, carrying a dog in his arms, and was following behind a younger version of himself, who was also walking fast, carrying a dog in his arms.

It was a missed opportunity to gather intel on him, because I didn’t think until just now that I could have telephoned Lu to ask if she knew who he was because, as he and his younger self were heading down the walkway, Lu was returning from bingo. She passed right by the two, then stopped, turned around, watched them walk away with a strange look on her face.

Did the weird little man say something to her?

I’ll never know because, if I call her now, she won’t remember, who what when.

During the week, I also caught a glimpse of Hubba Hubba Awooga Silver Fox walking back to his unit from what looked like picking up mail.

Tall, lean, dressed all in black, walking with that signature Obama stride, he looked even better walking away, than when coming forward.

Other than that, my week has been the return of woozy spells, BP bouncing between high of 173 and a low of 106, causing me to take it slow and easy since Tuesday …… called off Wednesday’s workout, but felt unwoozy enough to get through Friday’s workout.

Can’t pinpoint what the issue might be, but I can’t risk the spike coffee brings, so it’s been water and not coffee since Tuesday.

The irony is a Starbucks is under construction across the street from the Pain Cave, in the same lot as the market …… just when it’s looking like coffee is off the menu for me.

  1. What poor timing with the Starbucks construction! I hope you can get that wooziness under control. I am not a huge Starbucks fan. When my dad was a patient at the VA - the Starbucks drivethru was just across the street. I would "mix drinks" in my car, half and half with Maxwell house half caff from home to dilute the bitterness and over flavoring of the Starbucks.

    1. Starbucks is addictive. Going to be a challenge to see the building, smell the coffee and not see if I can get away with a cup, maybe not every day, but now and then.

  2. I hope you're consulting your doctor about a medication review for your fluctuation BP. And don't worry about not buying Starbucks coffee -- they're rich enough already, LOL!

    1. You got that right about Starbucks being rich enough, but their coffee is soooooo satisfying.

  3. The universe is torturing you by putting a Starbucks in, but then these days there are Starbucks on every corner.

    1. Tell me about it. I didn't believe it at first when Trainer said the new structure going up was a Starbucks, because we'd been told a Starbucks was going up right next door to the complex a while ago, and it ended up a 7-Eleven, but it's looking like the 2nd time is the charm, a real Starbucks.

  4. I could never start the day without a strong coffee from a coffee shop on my way to work. Doctor told me in 2017 that coffee could be contributing to my haitis hernia, so I have not had a cup since then. Shocked at how easy it was for me to give it up, as I loved it and still love the smell.

    1. With my gut issues, not being able to enjoy so many things, coffee was pretty much my only enjoyment, made life worth living. So really hard to go without even that one pleasure now.

  5. I'm a Starbucks fan, too, but I rarely order straight coffee. I love all their favorite drinks and ice teas as well as their winter blended drinks.

  6. Keep tracking your blood pressures; might need medication changes? (Yea, mine flexes with the news about the Idiot.) Linda in Kansas

    1. I thought the same, reason being stress of this administration. That first day, when I was super dizzy and woke up to 173 BP, I took a whole pill to bring it rapidly down. An additional half at noon and another half that night. I usually only take half a pill in the AM the other half in the evening. The next two days, still fluctuating, I took a half in the AM, a half at noon and a half at night. This morning (Sunday) I awoke with a normal BP, so I guess whatever it was has passed and I'm back to half a pill in the AM and the other half at noon.

  7. There’s always decaf. That’s my life now, and I’ve adjusted to it. I’m dying to see Hubba Hubba Awooga Silver Fox. Just so my cartoon eyes can telescope out of my face.

    1. I'll see what I can do on capturing a photo of Silver Fox. The few times I've seen him, though the patio window, heading for the mailbox, he moved too fast for me to grab the phone and get a snapshot. But next time I'll grab the phone, wait for him to walk back to his unit, so you can at least see the cool way he walks away. LOL.

    2. Don’t you want to ask him to pose for you and tell him his nickname?

    3. That's difficult to do when I'm playing hard to get and disinterested in him, LOL.

  8. I hope you will be able to enjoy the occasional Starbucks coffee, maybe take an insulated flask full of hot water to dilute it a little. Also truly hope you feel better very soon. JanF

    1. Once the new structure is up, I have to at least visit once or twice. I'll pick a day when BP is running smooth, and I can risk the spike.

  9. Sorry to hear the BP is giving you problems. I take two medications because mine is high too. My doctor never told me to stay away from coffee, how weird. It's probably a good thing there isn't a Starbucks within walking distance because those Mocha Frappuccino's are like crack to me. I could drink them everyday. LOL

    1. As of today (Sunday), BP is back to normal but, though coffee is allowed, I'm voluntarily staying away from it for the time being because it does cause my BP to spike. I can't say the coffee caused the problem, but I'm not taking any chances until I'm sure I've fully recovered. A Mocha Frappuccino sounds like a dessert, I'm straight coffee, nothing fancy.

  10. Oh, please be careful with the high blood pressure. I learned today that a friend had a stroke this past week. A "light stroke," whatever that means, perhaps not causing irreparable damage? It still bothers me as I was just talking to her last week and she seemed fine except she has trouble hearing, so she leaned in and asked me to repeat whatever it was I said.

    1. On Tuesday, for some unknown reason, I came very close to a stroke. It can sneak up on any one of us out of the blue. I'm now being extra careful now to take my pressure 3 times a day, upping my med, adding Pedialyte to my liquid consumption. Getting old ain't easy.

  11. I do Hope you feel better soon and good that you're being proactive about your Blood Pressure. And especially avoiding a Stroke, they ain't so fun and you're right that they can sneak up on any one of us out of the Blue. I was merely making Chili when I had mine and had felt perfectly Fine, up until I didn't.

    1. From the way I was feeling, on the brink so to speak, I consider myself extremely lucky to now be back to normal.

  12. Regarding the comment you left on my blog---I don't use the tea tree oil for dry, itchy skin. I use it for a rash that itches. The rash is a fungus that comes and goes.

    1. That sounds similar to the dry itchy skin with resultant rashes that's been plaguing me lately, so I'm gonna try tea tree. Nothing else has worked and the dermatologist hasn't been much help. So, tea tree is worth a try.
