Yesterday was my appointment with the doctor. On the way to the appointment, this happened.
That was some dangerous driving, and would have gone sideways for me, stopped at the red light, had one of those vehicles been hit by moving traffic that had the green light, causing one or more to crash into me.
I got a good look at the driver of the nazi car as he made the turn, and surprise surprise, it was a Brother, I’d say in his mid 30’s; and not a richy rich snob type Brother, but a common every day normal casual Brother, wearing a white t-shirt.
So, what was he doing driving a cybertruck?
The dangerous move was all for naught, because I knew the route the cars (looking to be a convoy of three or four), were taking would get them to where I’d soon be had they just cooled their jets, made the turn at the next intersection.
So, anyway, the doctor tells me I’m basically healthy, doing all the right things — eating healthy, exercising, but cholesterol is too high and I need to get my BP down, which was 160 when I arrived at the medical center — in spite of having taken the morning’s medication, and 163/71 after the nurse had me sit and rest for a while for a retake.
Go figure.
Doctor’s diagnosis "not diabetic, take 2 tablets for hypertension, but if BP is under 120 systolic, then take one), hydrate hydrate hydrate hydrate, lab work every six months (as they’re keeping an eye on kidneys filtrating a little slower than should)".
So, that’s that.
Today is bingo for the seniors and, after all that rigamarole over that ever-changing bingo flyer, today’s bingo is cancelled. The session scheduled for Friday the 22nd is probably also cancelled and, who knows, there may never be bingo again.
No matter to me, as I’m not involved in bingo, but a huge blow to those that are involved — organizers and participants.
As to why bingo is cancelled until further notice, I received a text from the Baker yesterday afternoon, "Someone came in the clubhouse on Tuesday with Covid, so most of us are just staying inside and testing".
F_CK!!!
I WAS IN THE COMMUNITY ROOM ON TUESDAY!!!
That was Pizza Tuesday, the morning I went down to check out the new Activity Director.
Just when you thought it was safe.
Heck, I didn’t even know Covid to be still a thing.
How are people still catching it?
Remembering how it was that Di hugged me in the Community Room that morning, and I had hugged our former Activity Director Christine, and how some of us had taken a group photo with the new Activity Director Kesha — all standing close, arms entangled, my first thought was to check on when I should begin testing. Learned that, if exposed and don’t have symptoms, wait at least 5 full days before testing but, if one develops symptoms, test immediately.
Not experiencing any symptoms, but needing to know just how worried I should be, I queried the Baker, "Was the person who brought Covid into the room someone who was in the room when I was there or came after I left" and was much relieved to find it was Dream Lover, as he was not in the room when I was there, had come later.
Fortunately, neither were Activity Director Kesha, or her new boss Christine. They headed for their cars just as I was walking out.
Unfortunately, Talker, Little Knock Knock, Lurch, Upstairs Lady, Lu, the Baker, her husband and a handful of others likely came in contact with Dream Lover.
I’m 99.99% certain I’m good but, since Dream Lover’s girlfriend Lu and best bud Upstairs Lady were in the room when I was there — even though, since I'm keeping Upstairs Lady on the does not exist list, kept my distance from her, the fact remains that both Lu and Upstairs Lady are stuck like glue to Dream Lover, so who knows which of them might have caught what. I’ll take the extra precaution of testing.
Isn’t it interesting how things sometimes turn out ……… Upstairs Lady has that little click of hers (Dream Lover, Lu, herself), a little click inside of the big click, that resulted in my moving away from the High Table at the BBQ, away from them, and now one has Covid, two are testing, all three are on lockdown.
We just had a girl at work test positive for COVID ... I told her, only half-joking, to never come near me again.
ReplyDeleteAs for those drives, in the Nazi truck or whatever, they are the reason I hate people.
Follow the doc's orders; it sounds rational and healthy. Water, water, water. I have just gotten Carlos on the drink more water bandwagon.
You can bet I'll not be wanting the three (Upstairs Lady, Lu, Dream Lover) anywhere near me again .... no joke about it. Who would have thought H2O would be so important.
DeleteOh yes, covid is still very much a thing. It's just that the government is not releasing any stats or info about it any more. The best thing anyone can do is keep your booster shots up to date. I got my last one in May and will get my next one in October.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was thinking I probably didn't need to get the booster, coming up September/October. I know different now.
DeleteI never miss a booster. It's the best defence we have against hospitalization from covid.
Delete👍
DeleteFrom what I have read, there is a big surge in all of California for COVID. I blame it on that goofy guy they have as head of Health who doesn't believe in COVID and refused to have any vaccines for the usual spring vaccine that we have taken for years now. I figured the 2X a year vaccine would be forever, but NO, none this spring, and now look, COVID is all over. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteCVS did send out updates, though, last week that we should get a vaccination as fall comes in and since there is an uptick on COVID cases. (we have done a second COVID vaccine in the fall for what? 5 years now) along with our yearly flu shot. I don't take both at the same time, allowing two weeks between shots. So, I've got to look at timing for the COVID vaccine as we are going to be gone during some of the next 6 weeks and Terry has a variety of medical procedures coming up so don't want to disturb any of that. Why couldn't they just have given us the spring dose since it's been working so well and keeping the cases in check? Oh, that's right, it's probably better to just kill off the.old, medicare, Social Security people and get them off of the rolls!
I haven't heard a thing about the surge, but I have noticed more people again wearing masks. I'll be one of them. I'll also check on when and ...... with the "goofy guy" now in charge, IF I can even get a booster this year.
DeleteGuess it's about time for me to get another Covid shot.
ReplyDeleteYep. This is a reminder.
DeleteI think that if we were all keeping up with vaccines (which I swear he will make illegal) it would get rid of the disease. I am hearing of people who are getting it, too. They act like it is no big deal and I guess if you are really healthy and athletic and 30, it probably isn't. But if you are a little old lady or a child - we are taking our chances. And it makes me crazy.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing I've kept my masks and limit my time around other people.
DeleteAre you very close to the wildfires down there? I'm seeing all the fires on the the evening's news and keep hearing San Bernardino. Thinking of you and hope you are safe.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think so. They are up in the mountains; except, the other day, I got a whiff and said to myself that something was burning. The fires explain why it was I heard sirens racing down the street the morning we had that power outage. No sirens lately.
DeleteI also thought of you when I heard about the fire on the news.
DeleteJust like the flu, COVID will never go away.
DeleteYIKES!! I'll be masking up forever. To tell you the truth, I've been staying away from the news so thoroughly that I didn't hear about the fires. I one day smelled fire but didn't investigate it or the sirens. When Dkzody mentioned it, I checked the fire map, saw we're okay for now in this area, but I thank you and Dkzody for thinking of me
DeleteCovid "cooties" hang in the air for 3 hours after somebody with covid was in the area. So, if Person A has covid, and may not even know it, and walks in your hallway, and then you walk in that hallway within 3 hours, you might get it! Not hugging people won't totally protect you. I STILL put on my 3-layer mask each time I leave my apartment to go within the interior halls of my apartment complex, to the drug store (people are sick, picking up prescriptions, duh,) or grocery store. Each vaccine is to stop each variant of covid.
ReplyDeleteLast time I saw Medscape reports, 350 people a week are still dying of covid in this country. Those are mostly elderly, ill, or those who didn't get their shots. It never stopped and there ARE surges.
As a former hospice nurse, I'd prefer to die of anything but covid. If you don't like masks over your nose and mouth, consider the metal speculum they use to put a plastic tube into your throat to keep you breathing.
Grab your covid shot when you can. I wonder if wormbrain Kennedy is going to force an underground market for shots! Yep, your annual flu shot and getting an RSV shot will help make you more powerful! At least you'll have a mild case if you do get it.
Glad you went to the doc. I like how they have a plan that puts you in control based on your blood pressure readings. I'm supposed to drink 3 liters of water a day. 2 liters is easy, 3 liters is a challenge. I use six 500cc (about half a liter) FIJI plastic refilled bottles a day. When I see 6 caps on my counter, I've done it. Yep, I'll die of recycled plastic. Good luck! Linda in Kansas
Good to know not to walk through the office area or the community room without a mask on. "I'll die of recycled plastic" 🤣🤣🤣
DeleteI was in Disneyland 10 days ago. One of my souvenirs was Covid. Susan
ReplyDeleteOMG!! I'll have to tell granddaughter not to book a trip any time soon. Take care of yourself.
DeleteMy daughter and her partner caught covid again just a week after my daughter had been in the surgical hospital for back surgery. She said she had a light case, like a cold, but I am not taking any chances and staying away.
ReplyDeleteGood Lord! I've been in the dark thinking it was over and done with.
DeleteGlad your checkup went well as could be expected, you are doing all the right things Shirley, that's all we can do. Yes, crazy Drivers are everywhere and why Princess T is hesitant to learn to Drive, she has extreme Anxiety and you cannot have a Panic Attack while driving. Plus, she wants Yours Truly to Teach her... I think I'd need to be heavily Medicated for something like that? *Winks*
ReplyDeletePrincess T is right to be hesitant. I myself am not fond of driving, which is why I have so few miles on the jeep. She might like one of those games that teach you how to drive, simulate being in traffic, rules of the road and such.
DeletePS: As for COVID I've had it twice already even tho' Vaxxed, Boosted and pretty much don't go around many people very often who aren't immediate Family. But, some of them Work and are around General Public more, so I'm guessing it might be time to get Boosted again to be safe, especially since The Man is so Medically Complex, tho', oddly, he's never had COVID and if he did, was one of the Asymptomatic ones like The Son has been.
ReplyDeleteTwin 2 just called to say she's got Covid ... again ... 4th time. We think she got it the night she took me to the emergency room. She made me mask up but forgot to take care of herself. From what I'm hearing, Covid is getting bad out there. It's like we never left the pandemic era.
DeleteCovid going around again!? Darn it, I don't want to think about it.
ReplyDeleteBetter start masking up again. I am.
